Facilities Management – Levels 6 (IRL) to 8 (IRL)

This practical programme is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to effectively and efficiently manage the facilities, property and assets in your care. Combining learning with practical examples is a hallmark of the programme. You can immediately apply it to your daily role.

The programme runs over 3 stages:

1. Level 6 (IRL) Facilities Management Certificate
2. Level 7 (IRL) Facilities Management ‘Top-Up’ Diploma
3. Level 8 (IRL) Advanced Diploma

Facilities Management Certificate (one evening per week for 19 weeks).

Topics Covered:

• Property and Assets Management;
• Project Management;
• Facilities Management in the Context of an Organisation;
• Managing Relationships and Delivering Services;
• Leadership in the FM Role;
• Solving Problems and Making Decisions; and
• Developing Yourself and Others.

Facilities Management ‘Top-Up’ Diploma (one evening per week for 15 weeks after the Certificate).

Topics Covered:

• Energy and Utilities;
• Sustainability and Environmental;
• Security;
• Costs and Budgets;
• Space Management;
• Contracts and Contractors;
• Procurement and Suppliers; and
• Induction of New Personnel

Level 8 Advanced Diploma (one Saturday per month for a year excluding August).

Topics Covered:

• Developing the executive manager;
• Critical thinking and research skills in management;
• Leading project implementation;
• Leading change in organisations;
• Developing excellence in operations; and
• Building commitment to corporate vision and values

ACCREDITATION AND CERTIFICATION

All stages are awarded and accredited by the Awarding Body for Sustainable Development – ABSD Awards.

ENTRY

Entry to the  Certificate is open, and applicants do not need any previous qualifications to join.

Certificate holders can progress to the Diploma

Direct entry to the ‘Top-Up’ Diploma is also possible based on experience or existing qualifications or both e.g. if you already hold an IWFM Level 6 (IRL) Certificate.

Diploma holders can progress to the Level 8 (IRL) Advanced Diploma

Direct entry to the ‘Level 8 (IRL) Advanced Diploma is possible based on experience or existing qualifications or both e.g. if you already hold a Level 7 (IRL) qualification.

Delivery and Times

The Award and Certificate courses course run for one evening per week starting at 6:30 pm

The Level 8 Advanced Diploma runs for 11 Saturdays – 1 per month for a year excluding August.

Each Saturday runs from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm with a break at lunchtime from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and a short break at 11:00 am.

All courses are delivered online in real time by the tutors.

SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A) You don’t have to complete all stages. You decide how many stages you would like to do. Many people complete the Facilities Management Certificate for example which they find improves their professionalism and career opportunities.

B) At each stage you can receive a separate qualification. So, if you decide to take the Certificate stage you get that qualification. If you take the Diploma after the Certificate you get two qualifications (and so on). Everyone commences with the Certificate or the full Diploma which incorporates the Certificate units.

C) No Examinations – you do not need to sit for any examinations for these courses. Instead, you complete assignments related to your practical work in facilities management. These are usually around 1500-2000 words each. We have sample assignments from previously learners to guide you on the required standards.

D) Online access to all the course materials you need to complete your reading and prepare for your assignments is included in the fees

E) Support is available to you whenever you need it via telephone and email. Tutorial support is provided to help you prepare for your assignments.

H) Progression – Advanced Diploma holders are eligible to progress to the ABSD/WSU Master in Sustainable Facilities and Property Management

Special Reduction in Fees is available if all stages are booked and paid for together in advance (Certificate + Diploma + Advanced Diploma).

We also have special reductions where more than 2 people from the same organisation take the course together at the same time. Details are available on request.
