Course Content:

The course covers the following topics:

The Estate Management Function:

Describe the property portfolio of own organisation
Explain the benefits and disadvantages of being a tenant and an owner-occupier
Describe the basics of property law
Describe the purpose of having a property asset register

Premises and building services maintenance:

List the building services and fabric components within own organisation’s estate
Explain the purpose of a building fixed asset register
List the ongoing maintenance activities that are carried out
Identify the resources they or others may need for one of these typical maintenance tasks
Describe the types of maintenance regimes
Explain what factors you should consider when developing maintenance plans and schedules
Explain how computerised maintenance management systems can enhance performance of recording and scheduling maintenance activities

Duration and delivery: 

The course is run either in the evenings or daytime.

Participants spend 2 evenings in the public class and back this up with experience outside the classroom.

The course can also be taken privately over a single day and we agree the date to suit your diary.

The course is delivered live online by the tutor and you are emailed a link that you can click on to join it.

Entry: 

The College operates ‘Open Entry’ policy but prospective participants should be able to apply what they learn on the course in an organisational setting (need not be in a job).

Certification: 

Participants receive the ABSD Awards – Level 4 (UK) / Level 6 (IRL) Unit Certificate in Managing Property and Assets on completion of a written assignment.

We have sample assignments and provide tutorial support to guide you on completing the assignment to the right stndard.
