Entry Requirements
- Learners must hold a QQI Level 5 award in Healthcare Support (5M4339), Nursing Studies (5M4349), Health Service Skills (5M3782), or equivalent.
- Applicants should have a minimum Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent education/experience.
- If English is not your first language, IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) is required.
- Evidence of English proficiency may be requested prior to enrolment.
Course Structure
Week 1: Live webinar introducing module content, assessment criteria, and programme structure.
Week 2: Tutor support via email or TEAMS, including discussion forums and learner engagement activities.
Week 3: Recorded lecture and guided independent study using course notes and Moodle resources.
Week 4: Live webinar focusing on key concepts, discussions, and applied learning.
Week 5: Study week with tutor Q&A support and assessment guidance.

Assessments / Exams
Continuous assessment through written assignments and practical workplace-based tasks.
Learners must complete 120 hours of work experience in a suitable healthcare environment such as:
- Hospitals
- Nursing homes
- Residential care settings
- Day service centres
If currently employed in healthcare, placement tasks may be completed within the learner’s existing workplace.
Garda Vetting
Garda Vetting is mandatory before commencing work placement.
Learners who have lived outside Ireland for more than 6 months must provide Police Clearance Certification for relevant countries.
