Entry Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• Minimum age of 17 years
• Good standard of English
• Basic computer literacy skills

The Department of Education currently stipulates that individuals seeking full-time employment in schools should possess at least three passes at Junior Certificate level or equivalent.

Applicants should also consider how they intend to complete the required work experience if not currently employed within a suitable setting.

Assessment

Assessment is completed through continuous assessment throughout the programme.

Learners will complete coursework and practical assignments designed to demonstrate advanced knowledge, critical thinking, and professional competence in Special Needs Assisting.

Work experience requirements must also be successfully completed.

Learners are responsible for securing their own placement.

Garda Vetting

Garda Vetting is required before commencing work experience.

Learners who have lived outside Ireland for more than six months will also be required to provide Police Clearance Certification for relevant international addresses.
