Course Description
The Health Services Supervisory Management programme is designed to provide learners with advanced knowledge and practical leadership skills required to manage teams, services, and operations within health and social care settings. This comprehensive Level 6 programme equips students with the supervisory, organisational, and decision-making competencies needed to succeed in healthcare management roles.
Learners will develop expertise across key areas including supervisory management, conflict resolution, person-centred planning, health promotion, and professional development, while also building leadership, communication, and operational management skills.
This programme also provides progression opportunities into senior healthcare roles, service coordination positions, and further education in healthcare management and related disciplines.

Course Structure
The programme is delivered over 40 weeks with structured blended learning depending on study mode.
Week 1: Live webinar (2 hours) introducing module content, programme structure, and assessment criteria.
Week 2: Tutor support via email or online platform (1 hour), including forum engagement where applicable.
Week 3: Recorded lecture and directed reading.
Week 4: Live webinar (2 hours) focused on key concepts and guided discussion.
Week 5: Study week with tutor support (1 hour) for Q&A and assessment guidance.
This cycle repeats throughout each module across the 40-week programme.
Assessments / Exams
Learners must complete 120 hours of work experience in a suitable healthcare setting such as a hospital, nursing home, or community care environment.
Additional training such as patient manual handling and basic first aid may be required prior to placement.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should meet one of the following:
• Hold QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support, Nursing Studies, Health Service Skills, or equivalent qualification
• Minimum Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate or equivalent experience
• English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or recognised equivalent
Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency before enrolment.
