Course description

ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE and EDUCATION (6M2007)

This one year programme enables students to become professional, eflectivr practitioners with an integrated approach in early childhood care and education. Students will acquire skills in the area of children’s play, art and craft, social studies, child developement and children with additional needs.  A supervised work placement also allows students to link theory to practice and gain valuable experience in different childcare settings.

COURSE CONTENT

Child Development, Early Childhood Curriculum, Childhood Social Legal and Health Studies, Supervision in Early Childhood Care, Team Leadership, Work Experience, Occupational First Aid, Early Childhood Art and Culture and Special Needs Assisting.

WORKSHOPS

Barnardos, Play Therapy, CPR for Young Children, Buntus Training

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Successful graduates of the course are eligible to work in a variety of settings which include:
• Playschool
• Crèche
• Montessori
• After school clubs
Graduates may also gain employment working as nannies or au pairs
