Interested in gaining the Special Needs Assisting Qualification with the opportunity to work in Mainstream National Schools or Secondary Schools under the direction of the Teacher. Opportunities to work in a Special Education facilities, Social Care, or Childcare Facilities as a Special Needs Assistant.
A Qualification that provides the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes for the role and responsibilities of a Special Needs Assistant when working with children in a special needs setting. SNA’s provide classroom support to pupils with a wide range of severe learning, physical or behavioral difficulties.

- Leaving Certificate standard or QQI/FET Level 4/5 Qualification or equivalent
- Mature Applicants with relevant life and work experience
- English Language Proficiency Test where deemed appropriate or an IELTS score of 5.0
Work Experience: 20 Hours Mandatory
On completion of this Special Needs Assisting Level 6 Course, the learner will have achieved one of eight modules which lead to a Major Award in Early Childhood Care & Education Level 6.
Progression to other Level 5/6 Awards include:
- Applied Behavioural Analysis Level 5
- Early Childhood Care & Education level 6 (Montessori or Supervision)
- Child Psychology Level 6
