Course description
This course aims to provide a flexible, part-time, fully online learning route for students to gain the necessary professional skills for a career in software development and/or database management. Students acquire specialised knowledge of specific IT topics, particularly in the area of software development and database systems, plus students develop advanced research and/or development skills. Optional modules include Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining.
The course is offered by NUI Galway. As the course is delivered online, it is particularly suitable for students in full-time employment wishing to re-skill or update their IT and Database competencies.
Closing date for receipt of applications is mid-July.
Further Education and PLCs (Post Leaving Cert Courses) have become a popular alternative to the CAO system here in Ireland. PLC Courses are validated by QQI (Quality & Qualifications Ireland) at levels 5 & 6 of the NFQ and offer a valid and valuable route into the workforce whilst also offering the option to continue with further study or proceed on to third level.
