Would you like to improve your presentation skills? Are you looking to practice your face-to-face communication and listening abilities? Would you like to increase your confidence in job interviews? Maybe you’ve just got something you want to get off your chest, or a story you want to tell.

This course takes a rhetorical approach to public speaking, and is designed around the idea that public speaking is a ritual act, embodied in a variety of forms, through which one or more persons uses technology to address the public. As such we will be doing a lot more than preparing and delivering speeches in front of the class! The course will be reactive to student interests, so bring your enthusiasm and goals with you. You can expect a dynamic, participatory environment and fun, challenging assignments that will expand your idea of public speaking as well as your role in the world.
Course Day & Time: Thursday evening 7:30 – 9.30pm

Start Date: 04/02/2027

Cost: €110

Course Format: In class with tutor

Duration: 10 weeks – Maximum of 12 students in class

Tutor: Wil Upchurch

Wil graduated with an MA degree in Professional Communication from Purdue University, Fort Wayne, and spent seven years teaching public speaking and communication at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a TedX speaker, conference presenter, and winner of several awards for writing and teaching.
