FOUNDATION COURSE IN AI
Course Description:
This course is a welcoming, easy to understand introduction to the world of Artificial Intelligence. You don’t need any coding or technical background to join. We will explore the fascinating journey of AI, from the early pioneers who first imagined thinking machines to the modern experts shaping our future.
Instead of getting bogged down in complex math or deep technical workflows, this course focuses on the big picture. You will learn how AI learns, how it is delivered to our devices, and what today’s most popular tools are truly capable of. We will also tackle the big questions: how AI impacts our society, the ethical challenges it creates, and what it means for the future of work. By the end, you will be able to confidently participate in any conversation about AI.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Discuss AI Technologies: Converse knowledgeably about the basic concepts that power AI today, such as how machines learn from data and how chatbots generate text.
- Recognize the Key Figures: Identify the historical pioneers who laid thegroundwork for AI and the modern thought leaders who are guiding its currenttrajectory.
- Understand AI Deployment: Explain the different ways AI is brought into our daily lives, whether it’s living in the cloud (like ChatGPT) or running directly on our phones and cars.
- Explore Tool Capabilities: Understand what popular AI tools can (and cannot) do, and practice basic, practical ways to interact with them effectively.
- Debate Ethics and Governance: Speak intelligently about the challenges of governing AI, including issues of bias, privacy, fake content, and the rules neededto keep AI safe.
- Analyze Societal Impact: Consider how AI might change society, with a specific focus on the future of work and human creativity.
