ABOUT EVENT

This short online talk hosted by Finbar Chambers explores the importance of looking after your mental health. Mental wellness is an internal resource that helps us think, feel, connect and function. It is an active resource that helps us build resilience grow and flourish.​

Some topics for discussion on the evening include key things to know about mental wellness​: Mental wellness is more than just the absence of mental illness.​ Mental wellness is an active process of moving from languishing to resilience to flourishing.​ Mental wellness helps to shift the perspective away from stigma to shared humanity.​ Mental wellness grows out of a grassroots, consumer-driven movement.​
Mental wellness is multi-dimensional, holistic and personal.

About the Presenter:​

Finbar has been working in the education sector for the past 18 years both at home and abroad and is a counsellor dealing with family issues. He achieved his MA in psychotherapy in 2010, his dissertation focusing on the experiences of those in education working with socially disadvantaged groups in general and more specifically with early school leavers. He also has a BA in Legal Studies and a post graduate diploma in Education both attained from the University of Limerick. Finbar has been a lecturer at ICHAS since 2008.
