This QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support course is designed for those who want to begin a rewarding career as a Healthcare Assistant. Learning Mode
On Campus
A structured classroom-based learning experience with face-to-face lecturer support one evening per week.

Learning Outcomes
Learners will:

• Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare theories, practices, legal requirements, and professional guidelines.

Entry Requirements

• Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate or equivalent education/experience.
• Access to a computer/laptop/tablet with internet access and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic computer literacy skills are required.
• Non-native English speakers require IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent).
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is permitted where modules were completed within the last five years.

Assessments & Work Placement
Assessment is based on continuous assessment, including written assignments and practical assessments.

Learners must complete 160 hours of work placement in an approved healthcare setting such as a nursing home, hospital, or day service centre.

Students may also require:

• Patient Manual Handling Training
• Cardiac First Aid / Basic First Aid Training

Garda Vetting is mandatory. International police clearance may also be required where applicable.
