This one-year course will aim to prepare students for entrance into Arts programmes in Irish universities and colleges as well as preparing students to work in a European environment both in Ireland and abroad. Students will be able to take this cultural option through archaeology, folklore and history modules or concentrate on a language option with European Studies.

There are now over 175 places in First Arts in Maynooth University, 30 places in UCD as well as numerous places in DCU, Mater Dei, Milltown, UCC, Technological University of the Shannon Athlone, South East Technological University Carlow, NUIG, TUD, St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, Marino Institute of Education, American College Dublin, Dun Laoghaire IADT, NCAD and other colleges for students who hold a QQI qualification in Culture and Heritage Studies or Language and European Studies. There are also opportunities in travel and tourism, European administration, local heritage concerns as well as in the business world through insurance, banking, or international trade.
