Course Description:

Build on your existing sewing skills and continue your creative journey! This course is designed for those who already know the basics of using their sewing machine and are ready to expand their skills. Learn how to make simple, personalised clothing and craft items while gaining confidence in your sewing abilities.

You’ll be encouraged to choose your own projects based on your interests and skill level. Whether you’d like to make simple garments, home accessories like cushion covers or aprons, or seasonal crafts such as Christmas decorations, you’ll have the flexibility to work on items that inspire you. Guidance will be provided throughout, from selecting patterns and fabrics to mastering the techniques needed to complete each piece.

Who This Course Is For:
This course is suitable for those who already have basic sewing experience. You must be able to:

  • Thread and operate your sewing machine
  • Sew straight seams
  • Unpick stitches when necessary

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to sew buttonholes and insert zips
  • How to cut out and follow simple patterns
  • Techniques for making basic children’s or adult clothing
  • Option to focus on craft or household items instead of clothing

What You’ll Need to Bring:

  • Your own sewing machine
  • Sewing thread (recommended brands: Gutermann, Mettler, Coats, Zwicky)
  • Sharp sewing scissors
  • Tape measure or ruler
  • Long, sharp pins
  • Fabric marking pencil or chalk
  • Any other sewing accessories you like to use
  • Fabric for your chosen projects (guidance will be given on type, amount, and where to buy)

Course Day & Time: Thursday evenings 7.00 – 9.00 pm

Start Date: 18/09/25

Cost: €110

Please Note: Students will be required to supply their own fabric for the items they are making (assistance will be given re the information for the type of fabric required, amount required and places to purchase)

Course Format: In class with tutor

Sewing Machine: Students who register for this course need to have and bring their own sewing machines to the class each week

Duration: 10 weeks – Maximum of 10 students in class
