Illustration and Digital Design – QQI Level 6

Course Duration One Year Full-time

This course aims to upskill prospective students that graduated in visual arts programmes some time ago and need to update their creative digital skills. Including photographers, designers, animators, illustrators, artists etc., or that work in the creative digital industry and need to update their creative digital skills -e.g. photographers, designers, artists, or that are returning to creative education after a break from the industry, or any individual who attained a QQI level 5 in a creative visual field (photography, design, animation, illustration, art etc.)

This course focuses on creating visual art, imagery, design and illustration, especially in the digital world. Upgrade your skills in Adobe, drawing and digital art. Learn about composition, typography, graphic design and illustration in a supportive creative environment in a college with a track record of delivering creative courses to the highest level.

Students receive a free Adobe CC software suite licence, for use in college and at home.

Entry Requirements

Candidates should be able to demonstrate an interest in Illustration. It is targeted at students with a specific interest in this sector who are willing to get involved and participate during the college year.

Since places on the course are limited, applicants will be interviewed.

Progression

On completion, students will have a strong portfolio of work that will facilitate their progression to a range of advanced courses, including:

• that graduated in visual arts programmes some time ago and need to update their creative digital skills. Including photographers, designers, animators, illustrators, artists etc.)
• or that work in the creative digital industry and need to update their creative digital skills -e.g. photographers, designers, artists
  or that are returning to creative education after a break from the industry
• who want to make a greater dynamic impact on social media through eye-catching dynamic and logical design
  or any individual who attained a QQI level 5 in a creative visual field (photography, design, animation, illustration, art etc.
