The Fashion Design course is a 1 year course focusing on the core elements of design from drawing through to communication and styling, providing a great introduction to the world of fashion. Students will learn the fundamental day to day operations of fashion design encompassing fabric selection and design process.
You will learn the basics of garment construction and how you can adapt and manipulate fabrics and patterns. A work placement is carried out which is essential to gain valuable first hand experience of this fast paced competitive market.

Entry to this course is by direct application to the college. Acceptance to full time courses is interview based, there are no specific points requirements.
This is a full time course delivered over 1 academic year. A work experience programme of 1 day per week is also required.

Students who complete this course will be ready to undertake many roles in the fashion industry within a design capacity from working with independent fashion designers, designers for large retail brands or for wholesale manufacturers for the high street outlets. These designers are at the forefront of style, creating designs for clothing and/or fashion accessories, that suit, or often predict trends and market demands. They design garments for individual clients and produce seasonal collections that influence the rest of the fashion industry. This is a global business with excellent career opportunities available for the well trained creative individual.
Many students progress onto a degree programme in design while others choose to try and secure employment after graduating.
