Course Description:
This Course is tutored by Ray Stears who is a certified first aid instructor ,recognised by The Irish Heart Foundation and PHECC (The pre hospital emergency care council).
Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance, outlining the topics covered on the course. In addition there is an option to become a registered CPR responder, recognised by the Irish Heart Foundation and the American Heart association. A separate personalised CPR card will be awarded to those candidates who wish to choose this option. The card is valid for 2 years.
Content covered on this course is as follows:
- CPR/ Defibrillation (adults, children and infants)
- Airway obstruction.
- Turning a casualty/recovery.
- Musculoskeletal Injuries (Fractures, strains, sprains).
- Wounds and bleeding
- Unconsciousness
- Concussion
- Anaphylaxis
- Stroke
- Cardiac emergency
- Burns
- Seizures
- Q + A.
Note: Manikins, AED trainers and first aid supplies will all be provided in class.
Any desks, chairs, tailor manikins, CPR manikins and AED’s (defibrillators) will be sanitised prior to the course by persons wearing appropriate PPE.

Course 1 : Tuesday 3rd of October 2023

Course 2: Tuesday 24th October 2023

Course 3: Tuesday 28th November 2023
Time: 6.30 – 9.30pm (3 hours to complete the course)
Venue: Malahide Community School
Course format: In class with tutor
Duration: One evening
Fee: The course fee is €50 for for attendees with certification & an additional €20 for 2 year registration if required.

Assessment: The course is tested by continuous observation by the trainer and a multiple choice question paper?
Accreditation: Successful completion of the course leads to joint certification by the Irish Heart
Foundation and American Heart Association.
