Continuing the Journey Through Classical Music

Course Description:

This course has been specially designed for participants who have completed the course ‘A Journey Through Classical Music’ and now wish to delve further into the world of Classical Music.

Building on the broad overview of part 1, we continue the journey by looking more closely at the building blocks of music such as melody, harmony and rhythm. With the help of these musical rudiments, we will consider a selection of favourite composers and explore in more detail their masterworks through listening, discussion, and in-class activities.

This course is guaranteed to elevate your musical knowledge and appreciation of musical styles!

As ever, on this relaxed and interactive course we will consider the historical and artistic contexts of the music, and think about interesting questions along the way. I look forward to welcoming you again for more musical and cultural explorations!!

Tutor: Aoife Mac Alister

Aoife is a graduate of The Royal Irish Academy of Music, UCD, and King’s College London where she completed her Masters in Music with Distinction. Aoife is an Arts Council Music bursary recipient for her specialist work in piano technique, and has over ten years experience teaching piano, music theory, and music history.
