    What is an MBA?

    A Masters in Business Administration is a QQI Level 9 Qualification on the NFQ (National Qualifications Framework) and is internationally recognised. It is designed to provide employees looking to fast-track their career. It is also suitable for managers or business owners and provides a deeper understanding of business and leadership skills. Chevron College MBA covers all major business disciplines including marketing, strategy, finance and human resource management developing practical and theoretical business leadership skills. You will learn how to think critically, plan effectively and implement strategic plans with maximum impact. Chevron College also offers an MBA that is specific to Healthcare professionals; MBA in Healthcare Management.

    Am I a good MBA candidate?

    If you have an undergraduate degree in any subject with a minimum of 2.2 and at least two years’ experience working; then the MBA is available to you. If you do not hold a degree but have vast experience and have worked up to a senior role you may still be eligible to undertake the MBA. If English isn’t your first language then you just need to provide proof of your ability. Chevron College accept IELTS at 6.0 overall with no individual component below 5.5, or equivalent.

    Do I need an MBA?

    That depends on you! If you are ambitious and wish to climb the ladder at work, or, wish to move into another position that your current education does not allow an MBA is a good way to get you there.  An MBA is also for individuals who are business owners or in a managerial role and feel they could benefit from a deeper knowledge of business and leadership skills.

    What are the entry requirements for completing the MBA?

    • You should have or be about to complete an undergraduate degree in any subject with a minimum grade of 2:2 (or equivalent qualification)
    • At least 2 years of relevant work experience
    • If English isn’t your first language, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. We accept IELTS at 6.0 overall with no individual component below 5.5, or equivalent.

    I do not have or am about to complete an undergraduate degree or equivalent, does this mean I cannot complete an MBA?

    Usually but not necessarily. In exceptional cases a learner can be accepted onto the programme if they have vast and varied work experience and hold a high position in their company (e.g. director, finance director, finance manager etc).     How long does it take to complete the MBA?

    The MBA is completed part-time over two years. Year 1 and Year 2 are separated into the below 3 semesters:

    Semester 1: October, November & December

    Semester 2: February, March & April

    Semester 3: June, July & August

    What qualification do I receive from completing the MBA with Chevron College?

    The qualification you receive is FHEQ Level 7 (validated by Wrexham Glyndwr University) which is comparable to NFQ Level 9 and is internationally recognised.

    Is it expensive to do the MBA?

    Usually yes, however, Chevron College are now offering the opportunity to complete your 2-year part-time blended learning MBA for a total of €7000 paid up-front or €7500 when paid in instalments.

    How is the Chevron College MBA taught?

    The MBA with Chevron College is taught 90% online i.e. At the beginning of each semester there will be a face-to-face induction for you and your fellow learners with your tutors in Portlaoise Co Laois and so gives you the opportunity to ask questions and of course to put a face to the name! The rest of your learning will be online.

    (During the pandemic this is also delivered online)

    There will be 3 semesters in each year. E.g. October 2021 intake

    Year 1

    Semester 1: October, November & December

    Semester 2: February, March & April (2022)

    Semester 3: June, July & August (2022)

    Year 2

    Semester 1: October, November & December (2022)

    Semester 2: February, March & April (2023)

    Semester 3: June, July & August (2023)

    • Each semester in the first year will each have two modules.
    • In the second year there will be two modules in the first semester which will be chosen by the learner.
    • If you are doing the MBA in healthcare management these modules will concentrate on healthcare.
    • Semester 2&3 of the second year are dedicated to Research Methods and Dissertation.
    • All modules will be continuously accessed- meaning there are no exams.

    What does my week look like when studying with Chevron College for my MBA?

    You will have no more than two live webinars a week between Monday and Thursday.

    The course provides discussion forums and tutors offer advice on assessments before finally submitting for assessment. All resources required including recommended reading will all be made available through the Chevron College portal.

    In addition to all of this; we provide you with ‘a studies adviser’. This person will assist with your study plan and skills as you progress to postgraduate through distance learning.

    Because most of my study is online compared to other colleges who provide a classroom environment; does this mean my qualification is different to theirs?
