College Awareness Week November 2019

College Awareness WeekCollege Awareness Week
takes place from November17th to November 24th 2019. This is the sixth year of the CAW initiative which aims to highlight the options for school leavers in further and higher education and to advise students on preparing for college life. College Awareness Week is aimed at providing students with informed choices to pursue the course best suited to their interests, abilities and future plans, whether that is a PLC qualification, an apprenticeship or a university degree.

Throughout the week, there will be a wide range of events taking place around the country. These can be viewed at the following link; As well as encouraging young people to consider college in their future plans, College Awareness Week aims to show prospective students that further education is a viable option for them too.

Communities across Ireland are invited to host events in community centres, schools, colleges, libraries and other venues, to raise awareness of opportunities available and to showcase local role models who have attended college. All activities, large or small, make a valuable contribution to the nationwide campaign.

Daily events will promote the benefits of going to college, showcase local role models and support students to become ‘college-ready’. The events are aimed at providing information as well as changing attitudes and trends towards higher education among the marginalised groups in Irish society, such as people with disabilities, those from ethnic minorities and members of the Traveller community. CAW hopes to break down barriers to accessing information on further education by providing community libraries and clubs with information about further education.
