CAO CODE:TR027 Irish Studies is a new interdisciplinary programme which has been designed by the Irish, English and History Departments to give undergraduates the opportunity to study in depth the language, literature, history and culture of Ireland. The purpose of the course is to provide students with a working knowledge of modern Irish; to enable them to study Irish presentationliterature in the Irish and English languages; to allow them to study the main periods of Irish history; and to familiarise them with key issues in the subject and in critical and cultural theory. Instruction at beginner‚Äôs level will be provided for those with no previous knowledge of Irish. This is a new, exciting interdisciplinary programme designed by the departments of English, History and Irish* with collaboration from Geography, History of Art, Film and Drama Studies, Politics, Genetics and Linguistics.
