CAO CODE : PC 410
Like the B.A in Humanities, this programme provides students with the opportunity to study many different academic disciplines. The key disciplines are English Literature, History, Philosophy and Theology as well as a number of elective subject options. Students in the Honours degree course are set more challenging essay assignments and exam papers, and are expected to produce a higher standard of work than students on the Ordinary degree programme. The B.A (Honours) in Humanities is recognised by the Teaching Council of Ireland for the purpose of teaching English and Religion at second level. (Note: In order to become a qualified, full time secondary school teacher, one must acquire the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) upon completion of the B.A (Honours) in Humanities.
