I have completed a BA in english and geography as I wish to become a teacher,in the special needs sector hopefully. At the minute I am unable to apply for any full time courses for primary/post-primary teaching. I want to get involved in the special needs sector of education. I am unable to find any information online about any courses to do with special needs in the education sector, apart from the sna courses. I have completed voluntary work in special schools around my area. I want to now look into evening or part time courses to do with special needs education that would perhaps enable me to do the one-to-one home tuition with young special needs children, as this would give me great experience for apply for future courses. I am also registered with the teaching council and so have been garda vetted in this process. Would you be able to point me in the right direction with regards to courses that would be suitable?
You could look at this course. http://www.mic.ul.ie/education/sen/Pages/InclusiveCareandEducation.aspx
also maybe you could ask Mary Immaculate do they know of any others that are similar. I know there is a distance private course you can do - I just can not remember who does it!
