Can I continue on to third level from plc course?

Will b edoing my leaving cert shortly and am looking for options other than cao, however I would like to possibly continue study from a plc course I'm looking at - is this easy to do?

Yes it is possible to continue education from plc courses. One method is through the Higher Education Links Scheme, Post Leaving Certificate Courses provide an alternative route to higher education in the Institutes of Technology for those who have completed the Leaving Cert Applied programme, or who were unable to enter third level education after leaving school.

In addition to the Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS), in 2005 the Institutes of Technology and some higher education institutions introduced a pilot admissions criteria and scoring system for FETAC Level 5 Certificate and Level 6 Advanced Certificate applicants.

Details are available from your school principal or guidance counsellor, or from the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC), East Point Plaza, East Point Business Park, Dublin 3 (Phone 01-8659599)
