CAO CODE: SG339 Quantity Surveying involves managing and controlling costs within construction projects and involves the use of a wide range of management procedures and technical tools to achieve this goal. This course is aimed at producing graduates who can assume positions of responsibility in the contracting or supply side of the building industry or at technician level in Quantity Surveying practices. ‚Ä¢ Measurement and cost construction skills: Build estimates; Cost planning; Bills of quantities ‚Ä¢ Construction Technology skills ‚Ä¢ Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements ‚Ä¢ Understanding of Environmental Sustainability ‚Ä¢ Knowledge of contract law ‚Ä¢ Negotiation skills A quantity surveyor may work for either the client or the contractor, and may be based either in an office or on site. The course is also aimed at providing the student with the opportunity to progress to higher qualifications, specifically; students who achieve a distinction level are eligible to progress into the Honours degree in Quantity Surveying.
