The overall goal of the programme is to prepare competent, flexible, accountable nurses, who are capable of life-long learning. Preparing students to be flexible and self-directed in learning is considered key as it is recognised that
the current rapid pace of change in nursing practice means the skills of tomorrow may be very different to those of today. The most significant challenge for nursing graduates of the future will be to manage their relationship with society, work and learning. This requires skillssuch as negotiating, action planning and networking added to the qualities of self-awareness and confidence. An analysis of current trends within nursing, both nationally and internationally, has also influenced the development of this
