The JEB Teacher’s Diploma in ICT is recognised in Ireland for IT teaching (please check current recognitions with FAS and the VECs).
The JEB is divided into two parts:
PART 1 - Level 4 Certificate in Teaching ICT Skills
The Certificate in Teaching ICT Skills has two mandatory units:
1) the 9-credit Planning and Preparing to Teach ICT unit – which is assessed by three assignments;
and
2) the 6-credit Teaching ICT Skills unit – which is assessed through a teaching project and teaching practice.
Assignment 1 involves submission of two teaching resources for ICT concepts.
Assignment 2 involves making responses on organising and managing resources in an ICT training centre.
Assignment 3 involves devising learning resources for two different types of software selected from the list in the specification and creating a learning activity for either file management, use of email or use of the internet.
PART 2 - Level 4 Certificate in Principles of Teaching and Learning
The Certificate in Principles of Teaching and Learning has two mandatory units:
1) the 9-credit Level 4 Principles of Teaching and Learning Unit – which is assessed by an examination lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes;
and
2) the 6 credit Level 4 Teaching and Learning Practice Unit – which is assessed through an observed teaching session and an unobserved teaching session.
Entry:
Normally participants must have 5 passes in their Leaving Certificate but mature students may be permitted to do the JEB (you need to check with us first).
• At the time of the examinations participants must be 20 years old or over
• All participants must have an ICT qualification, at ECDL or higher standard.
Participants need a very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (this course is NOT SUITABLE for computer beginners). The main MS Office topics required are:

• Internet / Email
• File Management
• PowerPoint
