The ISO 9001:2008 is fourth edition of the standard that was first published in 1987. The third edition, published in 2000, represented a thorough vision revision, including new requirements and reflecting development in quality management and experience gained since the publication of the initial version. ISO 9001 is frequently used in both private and public sectors to increase confidence in a products and services provided by certified organizations, between partners in business-to - business relations, in the selection of suppliers in supply chains and in the right to tender for procurement contracts.
