This course provides an understanding of the interactions between society, economics and the environment in the context of sustainable development.
Over 2 one and a half day blocks participants will gain an understanding of the principles behind sustainable development through case studies and interactive education for sustainable development methods..
In addition they will create a vision of a sustainable community and examine the potential for local and global sustainability. By the end of this course participants will have gained the skills to understand the term 'sustainable development', identify local environmental issues, conduct an environmental audit and devise local sustainable development indicators.
Target group Environmental officers, teachers, youth leaders, community leaders, academics and anyone interested in understanding the concept of ‘Sustainable Development’ through practical activities.
