If you have a particular interest in and enthusiasm for reading, discussing and writing about literature, studying English at UCD provides you with an outstanding education. The programme will enhance your understanding of various narrative, poetic and dramatic conventions; enlarge your critical vocabulary and historical awareness; and explore how the study of literature intersects with questions of gender, politics and cultural theory.
You will learn how to research a topic, evaluate evidence and present your ideas in a cogent and elegant fashion. You should be accustomed to reading widely on your own, and be able to present your thought processes and conclusions in a clearly written argument. |
