Description
CAO CODE : DN 510 Economics studies how people behave in the ordinary business of life. It explores how consumers and business people, public servants and politicians make decisions - how they choose between alternative ways of spending their money and using their skills, energy and time in a wide range of human endeavour. As well as standard subjects such as spending and producing, economics can also analyse decision-making in areas as diverse as love, marriage, sports and crime. In fact, economics can throw light on decision-making in just about any area of life! It is not necessary to have taken Economics to Leaving Certificate, nor is Higher Level Mathematics required. However, Economics at university is a somewhat mathematical subject and an aptitude for thinking mathematically and being comfortable with mathematical concepts is a definite advantage. If you choose to take Economics as a single subject to degree level you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a range of modules that directly address issues relevant to the Irish economy and develop a high level of competence and skills.
