Special needs plc course

I am an unemployed teacher and I would like to train as a special needs assistant as I know of various SNA positions that will arise in my locality in the near future. Even though I am a qualified teacher, I understand that sometimes a specific qualification is required to work as an SNA. Can you recommend a plc course for this in Dublin?

Portobello Institute run a one year full-time course in this area. They have developed their SNA course to give students in-depth awareness of a Special Needs child and their specific requirements. It will also give you an insight into the facilities and services available in Ireland for Special Needs Children. Upon completion of this course students will be awarded the following: FETAC Level 6 Certificate of Competency In Special Needs Education, FETAC Level 6 Certificate in Languages, FETAC Level 6 Certificate in Mathematics, FETAC Level 5 Certificate of Competency in Special Needs Education, FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Sensorial Studies, FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Child Development and FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Behavioural Studies. For further information on this course and for career opportunities on completion of the course please refer to their website www.portobelloschool.ie.
