IT Skills Training wins prestigious awards |
'These prestigious awards celebrate best practice by Training Centres in their delivery of IT skills training' - Seán Haughey, TD
The Irish Training Excellence Awards at the 12th National IT Training Conference took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry in North Dublin.
These awards are given to ECDL training centres for many different aspects of training.
Speaking at the event Minister Haughey said 'ICS Skills aims to support and promote digital literacy in Ireland. Their activities support individuals and organisations seeking to gain computer skills, regardless of financial resources.
They enable training providers throughout Ireland to deliver internationally recognised IT certification to participants. ICS Skills were congratulated for their ongoing hard work and huge commitment which have been most important in the upskilling of the people of Ireland. In the changing economic climate the challenge now is to ensure that workers are adequately trained in IT skills.
IT skills are an increasingly central component of the skills set of workers across many sectors of our economy, and this conference provides an ideal opportunity for the network of more than 1,000 IT training centres to share best practice and to stay motivated.
Participation in lifelong learning can bring enormous benefits including the development of additional skills and competencies, the creation of new opportunities and access to better employment and an improved quality of life.
We must all become actively involved in pursuing opportunities to participate in lifelong learning and we must also encourage each other in this pursuit, said Minister Haughey.
'I congratulate ICS Skillls and the Irish Computer Society on the important work that your organisation has done in the area of Information Technology upskilling,' concluded Minister Haughey
