ECO-UNESCO and Youthreach Rathfarnham are launching the
delivery of the ECO-UNESCO course on Sustainable Development to local
young people in the Youthreach centre. This FETAC Level 5 accredited
module developed by ECO-UNESCO aims to equip young people with the
skills and knowledge required to tackle sustainability issues with
confidence.
The innovative course encourages participants to examine the issues
around sustainable development through activities, discussion and
problem-solving. From conducting an environmental audit to identifying
local environmental issues and local sustainable development indicators,
the young participants will take on a range of projects which will give
them the skills needed to create a vision of a sustainable community
and examine the potential for local as well as global sustainability.
“ECO-UNESCO is delighted to be working with Youthreach Rathfarnham
on this project. Given the increasing emphasis placed on sustainable
development in all sectors of society, this innovative course is coming
at exactly the right time. It helps to upskill young people whilst
working towards a sustainable future and creating opportunities for
young people right now.” comments Elaine Nevin, National Director of
ECO-UNESCO.
