Airline Training Programme |
The Pilot Training College (PTC) announced the launch of an integrated
airline pilot training programme at the London Flyer Exhibition. The
first class of integrated course students will start training on
January 11th 2010. The advent of the new integrated course will increase
the number of fulltime students attending The Pilot Training College
from 160 students in 2009 to 200 students in 2010.
Integrated pilot training takes place at PTCs three training centres in
Florida, Waterford and Dublin. Basic and intermediate training takes
place at the PTC training centre in Florida where students learn basic
aircraft handling skills and build hours. Students complete their
training in Florida by refining their flying skills to the level
required by a commercial pilot and transition to multi-engine aircraft.
All flying is done on modern Piper aircraft that feature both
traditional instrumentation and Avidyne glass cockpit systems.
The JAA
ATPL Theoretical Knowledge training in preparation for the fourteen
written exams is delivered in parallel with this training at the PTC
JAA residential ground school which is also based at the Florida
training centre. Students then return to Waterford for advanced
instrument training in north European weather conditions and are
awarded a JAA Commercial Pilots licence with Multi Engine Instrument
Rating on completion. The course is completed with transition from the
training environment to the operation of larger multi crew jet and
turbo-prop aircraft with Multi Crew Cooperation and Jet Orientation
courses held in Dublin.
Commenting on the introduction of this new integrated programme,
Captain Mike Edgeworth, CEO of The Pilot Training College said that
‘the introduction of this integrated programme builds upon the high
quality and continuing success of the structured modular programme
which has built a strong reputation with the industry for producing
high quality, world class pilots. It is no coincidence that we recorded
17 first time passes in a row in JAA Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
flight examinations this October. We believe that we have much to
contribute to the world of integrated JAA pilot training that will
complement our continuing achievements in modular training.’
The Integrated Airline Pilot Training programme is one of the only JAA
integrated courses to offer both FAA and JAA private pilots licences as
part of the programme. The price includes all regulatory flight and
ground training (including Multi Crew Co-operation and a Jet
Orientation course); professional pilot equipment; accommodation;
travel costs to and from the US (including airport transfers in the
US); access to books, manuals and learning materials; approach and
landing fees; licence and rating issue fees for FAA Private Pilots
Licence, JAA Private Pilots Licence and JAA Commercial Pilots Licence
with Multi Engine and Instrument Ratings; travel insurance; FAA medical
fees, exam and examiner fees; uniform; student email and elearning
materials; Job interview module, careers module, interview preparation
module and alumni programme.
