The ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management aims to give practising or potential first line managers the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing basic management skills and assisting participants in gaining the basic knowledge required at this level. The First Line Management Award covers: Solving problems and making decisions Understanding change in the workplace Achieveing objectives through time management Knowledge-based assignments Work-based assignments The First Line Management Certificate covers: The ILM First Line Management Certificate builds on the ILM Award and covers: Planning change in the workplace Writing for business Managing creativity and innovation in the workplace Obtaining information for effective management Managing customer service Giving briefings and making presentations in the workplace Introduction to leadership Managing health and safety at work Building the team Managing stress in the workplace Knowledge-based assignments Work-based assignments The First Line Management Diploma The ILM First Line Management Diploma builds on the ILM Certificate and covers a range of more advanced topics in first line management. Course Aims The courses are for anyone working in first line management. They help participants to develop a comprehensive range of skills and techniques. Each course builds on the previous one. Individual Subject Options If you feel you do not wish to take a complete qualification you can take individual subjects and receive certification for these. If you wish you can build these up over time into complete Awards, Certificates and Diplomas. If you take this option you have up to one year to complete subjects to combine them into the Award, two years to complete the Certificate and three years to complete the Diploma. Individual subjects available at the moment are: Health & Safety at Work Management Managing stress in the workplace Team Building Introduction to leadership Writing for business Achieveing objectives via time management Solving Problems and Making Decisions Course Accreditation The courses are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). ILM is the leading education and professional body for managers and is internationally recognised. It is part of the City & Guilds organisation. After these courses participants can progress to more advanced ILM management and leadership programmes. No Examinations One of the benefits of these courses is that there are no written examinations. Instead participants complete assignments related to thier practical everyday work. Tutorial support is provided as part of the course. Course Duration and Entry The Award course runs for 3.5 hours one evening per week for 12 weeks. The Certificate takes an additional x 13 weeks @ 2 nights per week. Entry is open - no prior qualifications are required to enrol.
