Economics teaching in the Freshman (first two) years emphasises the understanding of the basic principles of economics and the acquisition of the quantitative skills in mathematics and statistics necessary for more in-depth study.
The courses in history are designed to allow the preferences of individual students to shape the overall character of their studies, and permit them to specialise in a number of different ways. Students may concern themselves with a particular period of history - medieval, early modern or modern; they may concentrate on the history of a particular area - Ireland, Europe, Britain or America; or they may choose to concentrate on a particular kind of history - socio-political, cultural or economic. Alternatively, they are free to sample something of everything. |
