This full-time course is designed to prepare students for academic programmes in the nursing sector and/or employment in the health sector as a care assistant.
It is structured to provide a foundation in the theory and practice of health science for graduates who intend to enter the nursing, paramedical or community care service. It combines an introduction to the theory of nursing with periods of clinical practice (work experience) Graduates who successfully complete the course are eligible for consideration for academic progression routes in Nursing and related Health Studies in Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland.
Options include Level 8 Bachelor of Science in General Nursing and other specialist Nursing degree courses in D.C.U. and U.C.D and 10 other regional universities and institutes. Related HETAC Level 8 Degrees include Social Studies in Social Care and Health Promotion and Physical Activity.
