Course Details

The aim of this programme is to enhance student's knowledge of psychology to give students an advanced understanding of the principles and practice of psychology. Students must have completed a FETAC Level 5 in Psychology or equivalent in order to commence the programme. Students receive a course manual, assignments and studyguide, plus tutor support. Module 4 - Child Development

  • Issues in Child Development. Cognitive Development. Development in language and communication. Social Perception. Moral Development.

Module 5 - Psychology and Atypical Behaviour

  • Definition and diagnosis of atypical behaviour. Treatments of atypical behaviour. Emotional disorders.

Module 6 - Research Methods

  • Research Methods. Research Issues. Data Analysis.

Entry Requirements / Prerequisites

Assessment

  • This course is assessed through a series of tutor marked assignments. There is no exam with this course.

At the end of this course, successful learners will receive a level 4 NCFE Award certificate in Advanced Psychology. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 4 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. A UK Award at level 4 is at an equivalent level to a FETAC Level 6 Award.
