CW 538 - BSc in Pilot Studies
The Department of Electronic, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Institute of Technology Carlow has been proactive in the development of its aerospace related programmes over the last decade. One of these programmes is the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved Bachelor of Engineering in Aircraft Systems which is ranked highly by both national and international students attracting students from Malaysia, China and North America.
With the technologies advances in modern transport aircraft the Department of Electronic, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering has worked closely with pilots and flight instructors in the airline industry on the development of a new degree programme to meet the needs of the industry.
The Department of Electronic, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is pleased to offer the first accelerated Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pilot Studies which has been approved by the Higher Education and Training Awards Council of Ireland (HETAC). The emphasis on this degree will be the technical aspects of aircraft operation. An innovative feature of this course is that four academic years will be delivered in three calendar years. This is to facilitate the highly motivated students transferring into the workforce at the earliest opportunity.
