Women's Studies critically examines the ways in which gender shapes the lives and identities of women and men and the exercise of power at every level cultural, economic, personal, political, legal and social. It pays particular attention to the diverse experiences and perspectives of women and efforts to contest and transform gender inequalities locally and globally. Engaging with a variety of analytical and theoretical feminist frameworks, Women's Studies investigates women's lives currently and historically. The reach of Women's Studies extends from the politics of personal, family and working life to the gendered logic of the nation, globalisation, development and conflict. |
