How human beings perceive the world in which we live and imagine what can be has influenced the shape and function of the structures in the built environment which impact on our daily lives. From ancient Greece to modern Dubai architects have dreamt and wondered and produced buildings and spaces which continue to wow and inspire.
Underlying the built environment are important principles of design which have developed over many thousands of years. Never before has the urban landscape been so important, with so many human beings sharing scare resources and amenities, yet enjoying a sense of personal space and a free environment.
